Episode Eighty-One: Its Such An Ugly Word
Some people are bothered by bright lights or loud noises. Others are prone to road rage by every other driver. Life can impact us in so many, different ways. I DO know some people who seem to coast along…oblivious to rubbish drivers, rude strangers, bad music played in stores and certain offensive words.
I’m not one of them. Where do I fall? Well, as an empath, I seem to be TOO AWARE of most things, people, sounds and situations.
There is one thing I know for sure. Certain words give me the ick. During a recent conversation with another daughter who dares, I discovered one such word. Regret. I realised that, understandably, for children raised by narcissists, the word regret can easily become another word…an ugly word. Resentment.
Thanks to this podcast community, I now know too many people who have regrets purely because they listened to their narcissistic parents ALL their lives…never questioning them, doubting them or challenging them.
No wonder their regrets turned into resentment. It makes perfect sense to me.
